Fairy Tale Comes to Life in Bled

Name one place that pops into your mind when Slovenia is mentioned, besides Sevnica, which is recently buzzing as the hometown of America’s first lady Melania Trump, or Ljubljana, the culture-packed capital city? We bet most of you have never known that there’s a little piece of heaven on Earth called Bled.

Unlike the peachy townie Ljubljana, this tiny resort town of Bled, nestled in the foothills of the Julian Alps, is truly a nature of wonders. The picturesque view of this idyllic town is like one those scenes you see in some fairy tale movie. If you’re in need to have a stress-free break, Bled is the perfect destination for you; it has a bundle of top attractions to visit.

Walk down to a tranquility lane and see for yourself the iconic teary-shaped, crystal blue-green Lake Bled. The mesmerizing beauty of Lake Bled will make your stay incredibly therapeutic. It’s not just the calming glacial water, but you’ll also hear the soothing bell’s ringing from the Pilgrimage Church of Maria that stands beautifully tall right above the lake.

Make your way into the entrance of Pilgrim’s Church of Maria by hopping on the traditional wooden boat called Pletna. Or if you’re afraid of water, feel the breeze of Bled’s winds just like the ancient times by riding its traditional horse drawn carriage, known as coachmen fijaker to explore the island. Make a pit stop to see the medieval-era Bled castle, perched on the steep rock above the lake. The charm of this castle, the oldest in Slovenia, is surreal.

Last, we believe visiting new places won’t be complete if you don’t try its signature food. Make your stay in Bled too sweet to be forgotten by tasting the famous yet delicious dessert best known as kremšnita. It’s a vanilla and custard cream cake topped with layers of pastry puff and sprinkled with sugar icing. Yumm!
